JAVVA 01
Domaine de Mozet – Mozet –RENO
Dates: 28/08/09-11/09/09
Number of volunteers: 8

WORK: Volunteers will work on different tasks in the park of the “Domaine de Mozet”: taking care of the trees, painting, renovation of small houses in the park…Expect physical work !
Free time: Weekends and evenings will be free. Daily work: 5-6h.

ACCOMMODATION: In the castle of Domaine de Mozet.

LOCATION: Mozet is a wonderful small village in the South of Belgium, situated at about 14 km from Namur.

JAVVA 03

CEMôme : Education Center - Ardennes – SOC

Dates: 12/08/09 – 29/08/09
Number of volunteers: 4

WORK: Volunteers will help to organize a summer camp for 50 children from 6 to 15 years old who come from underprivileged backgrounds. They will cook meals for the group and propose some recreational activities, with the educators and social workers of the association. They will work with three local volunteer (aged from 15 to 18 years old).

ACCOMMODATION: Under tents, sleeping bag and mattress required.

LOCATION: Volunteers will spend a couple of days in Brussels in order to prepare some games and fun activities for the kids. The summer camp itself will be located in the Ardennes (Sippenaek, a little village near Liège), in the South East of Belgium. It’s a wonderful green area in Belgium, in the middle of nature!

REMARKS: An average knowledge of French is required, as activities will be conducted with children…who do not speak any English ;)

 

JAVVA 04
Red Cross Center for asylum seekers– Fraipont - SOC
Dates: 01/08/09-15/08/09
Number of volunteers: 10

WORK: For the past few years, JAVVA has been organizing workcamps in Red Cross Centers for Asylum Seekers. Indeed, the whole issue of refugees, asylum seekers and migration in general is one of the main issues Western European countries deal with nowadays. The aim of these workcamps are not only to allow volunteers to have an “up close and personal” experience of the issue, and therefore have a different view on it than what can be seen in the media, but also to bring some “fresh air” to the residents in the Center.

The Red Cross Center for asylum seekers "Le Merisier" hosts 300 people. The volunteers will take part in the life of the Center, together with the asylum seekers. Renovation work will be organized, as well as animation with the residents.

ACCOMODATION: In a guest house

LOCATION: Fraipont is in the countryside, not far from Liège, one of the biggest cities in Belgium.

REMARKS: This workcamp takes place in Red Cross Center for asylum seekers, which is somewhat isolated. Volunteers should have an interest for the issue, and a will to interact with the asylum seekers.  Many (but not all) asylum seekers come from French-speaking African countries, so some notions of French are welcome (but English remains the language of the workcamp).

 

JAVVA 05
Le Bocfil – Eupen – RENO

Number of volunteers: 10

WORK: Le Bocfil is an organization promoting art and artists in Belgium.
They have a building to renovate in order to organize art exhibitions in the future. The volunteers will help with the renovation of this building.
Expect physical work !

ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will sleep in the same building. A sleeping bag is required. There will be a kitchen, showers and lavatories. The volunteers will prepare the meals with fresh products. The leader of the association speaks French, Dutch, English, German and Spanish.    

LOCATION: Eupen is a small city in the East of Belgium, near Germany. In Eupen, people speak French and German.  
There are quite a lot of activities to do during the summer: swimming pool, concerts, nature, …
The train station is 3 minutes away from the house.

 

JAVVA 06
Le Bocfil – Eupen – RENO

Number of volunteers: 10

WORK: Le Bocfil is an organization promoting art and artists in Belgium.

JAVVA 07

Youth Centre - Braine l’Alleud – RENO
Dates: 17/08/09-30/08/09
Number of volunteers: 10

WORK: Participants will help with the renovation of the Braine l’Alleud Youth Centre (www.leprisme.be): painting, gardening…please bring some old clothes
 
ACCOMMODATION: volunteers will sleep in an old castle. Sleeping bag and sheets needed. Possibility to have vegetarian and halal dishes (please advise beforehand)

LOCATION: Braine l’Alleud (30 minutes from Brussels).

 

JAVVA 08

Arthur Regniers Center - Bienne-lez-Happart – HANDI
Dates: 03/08/09-14/08/09
Number of volunteers: 10 

WORK: The Arthur Regniers Center hosts persons suffering of a cerebral and motor handicaps. The volunteers will mostly attend to the basic needs of the children of the Center (helping with the meals, cleaning, going to the toilets…) but will also participate in the setting up of artistic and cultural activities, with the Center’s staff. They will also be able to suggest their own activities.

ACCOMODATION: in the Centre.

LOCATION: Bienne-lez-Happart is a very small town near Binche, Mons and Charleroi. The Center itself is quite isolated in the countryside but bicycles and a car are at the volunteers’ disposal*. They can be used in the evenings or in the weekends, to visit the region and visit other places in Belgium.

*Please bring your crash helmet and your driver’s license, if possible.

REMARKS : This workcamp is for motivated volunteers. The Center is quite isolated, and the work can be challenging.

An average knowledge of French is required, as activities will be conducted with children…who do not speak any English ;)

For those willing to stay a bit longer, possibility is given to stay an additional week by participating in half of JAVVA 09 workcamp. Stay during the weekend can be arranged.

 

JAVVA 09

JAVVA 10
Red Cross Center for Asylum Seekers– Rendeux - SOC

WORK: For the past few years, JAVVA has been organizing workcamps in Red Cross Centers for Asylum Seekers. Indeed, the whole issue of refugees, asylum seekers and migration in general is one of the main issues Western European countries deal with nowadays. The aim of these workcamps are not only to allow volunteers to have an “up close and personal” experience of the issue, and therefore have a different view on it than what can be seen in the media, but also to bring some “fresh air” to the residents in the Center.

This workcamp will take place in the Red Cross Centre for Asylum Seekers in Rendeux, which can host up to 165 residents. Volunteers will take part in the organization of the “Fête de la Musique”, taking place on the 21st of June, organized in collaboration with the cultural centres of Marche-en-Famenne and Durbuy. The “Fête de la Musique » is an annual music festival celebrated in the whole country, and the decision to organize it in the Red Cross Center is to bring the local community closer to the refugees Center. 

ACCOMODATION: Volunteers will be accomodated in the Centre.

LOCATION: Rendeux is a small town of about 2000 inhabitants, in the Luxembourg province, in the east of Belgium.

REMARKS: This workcamp takes place in Red Cross Center for asylum seekers, which is somewhat isolated. Volunteers should have an interest for the issue, and a will to interact with the asylum seekers. Many (but not all) asylum seekers come from French-speaking African countries, so some notions of French are welcome (but English remains the language of the workcamp).

Red Cross Center for Asylum Seekers– Nonceveux - SOC

WORK: For the past few years, JAVVA has been organizing workcamps in Red Cross Centers for Asylum Seekers. Indeed, the whole issue of refugees, asylum seekers and migration in general is one of the main issues Western European countries deal with nowadays. The aim of these workcamps are not only to allow volunteers to have an “up close and personal” experience of the issue, and therefore have a different view on it than what can be seen in the media, but also to bring some “fresh air” to the residents in the Center.

This workcamp will take place in the Red Cross Centre for Asylum Seekers of Nonceveux, which can host up to 250 residents. Volunteers will participate in the setting up of a cultural meeting place. Cultural activities and walks will be organised with the residents.

ACCOMODATION: In the Centre

LOCATION: Nonceveux is a small town in the Luxembourg province, in the eastern part of Belgium.

REMARKS: This workcamp takes place in Red Cross Center for asylum seekers, which is somewhat isolated. Volunteers should have an interest for the issue, and a will to interact with the asylum seekers. Many (but not all) asylum seekers come from French-speaking African countries, so some notions of French are welcome (but English remains the language of the workcamp).
